CHARITY
White Rock Elks believe that Charity begins at home. This means that we try to make a difference in our local community with charitable donations.
White Rock Youth Ambassadors
The WRE has been a consistent supporter of the WR Youth Ambassadors. Every year the White Rock Elks sponsor a candidate as a Youth Ambassador for the city. To participate, candidates must, attend school, live or work in South Surrey or White Rock. This program gets youth involved in their community and also provides a beneficial lifetime of experience. They also help us with many events. If you would like to know more about this program please visit wrya.ca.
BC Family Hearing Resource Society
The BC Family Hearing Resource Society is a charity that is very close to our hearts. This Society serves local families with services and resources for hearing impaired children. They provide services, outreach, program, training resources and many more tools to help those families that are faced with profound hearing loss. White Rock Elks enjoys participating in their walk for bright futures. If you require their services we encourage you to visit their website at http://www.bcfamilyhearing.com
Sources Food Bank
Each year we make a donation to our local Sources Food Bank. Sources works to provide our community members in need with a minimum of two days worth of food per person per week. The White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank provides weekly support services to more than 600 people living in our local area. Sources is funded by donations from the community. Find you are in need of their services or would like to learn more click here
Peace Arch Hospice
The Peace Arch Hospice plays a pivotal role in our community, They provide counselling services, grief support, relaxation sessions, walking groups, vigil support and outreach programs. The hospice holds a special place for the White Rock Elks as some of our members have used their services. We appreciate the hospice for providing support to families at difficult times in their lives. If you would like to learn more about supporting or donating to Hospice please visit their website at https://www.peacearchhospice.org/
Elks Scholarships
Since 2018 our lodge has given away over $10,000 in scholarships to our local youth. Our scholarships were made possible by our lifetime members Al Pradine and Al Edwards. Each year we open up submissions to our local highschools where students can submit an essay detailing the importance of volunteering. We then have a panel of judges pick 3 winners. These winners each receive a $1,000 scholarship towards their future studies. If you know a young youth who is graduating please check out our scholarships page here
White Rock Firefighters
Our lodge has been in White Rock since 1958, as a result, we were around when the White Rock Firehall was not only built but we helped raise funds and donated one of their very first fire & rescue trucks (which they still have and use at charity events). We still consistently donate to the Firehall to this day to support our volunteer firefighters. See the very first firetruck by clicking through the gallery below. You can also visit their Facebook page here.

These are just a small portion of the places and efforts we support. If you would like to join us in these endeavours consider becoming a member here and join your community
